Bike Sheds
A Bike Shed is a practical and reliable way to keep your bike safe from intruders and the elements. Designed to cater precisely for bikes, these buildings are an efficient solution for storing your bike, freeing up space elsewhere while offering unrivalled protection for your bicycle.
We have a wide selection of sheds available, with a number of different materials and cladding options to pick from. All buildings are designed to last and are fully-accessible for bicycles.

If you want to keep your bike protected, be it from the weather or potential thieves, or if you’re simply sick of banging into your bike while storing it inside the house, a bike shed is the ideal storage solution.
Available in a variety of sizes and materials, all our bike storage models provide these three things as standard:
- Reliable protection from the weather
- Robust safety from thieves
- A space-efficient and accessible storage solution
Choose a model for one bike - or a whole family’s worth - with peace of mind our building will keep it safe and sound. For a traditional look a timber model is ideal or, for a more security-focused option, a metal bike shed fits the bill.
Why Keep a Bike in a Shed?
Great for commutes and exercising, bikes are valuable items and keeping them in good condition is therefore a natural concern for all bike-owners. Gardens and outdoor spaces are exposed to both the weather, which could cause damage to your bike, and (depending on your garden) to potential thieves. While you could keep it permanently indoors, bikes are bulky objects and will take up valuable space inside. A bike shed provides the ideal solution.
These buildings provide a safe haven for bicycles outdoors, keeping them sheltered from rain and winds and securing them away from thieves. A dedicated bike shed is also designed to be naturally space-efficient, meaning it won’t take up any more space than it needs to in your garden.
What Else Can I Use a Bike Shed For?
This depends primarily on the size of bike shed you get. If opting for one of our space-efficient designs, there won’t be that much extra room to utilise. In these cases, it will still be possible to store smaller items such as bike helmets, tools, pumps, spare tires, repair kits or other replacement parts.
If opting for a larger building, you can use that extra space in whatever way you choose. Like any garden shed, the building can be used to store larger pieces of garden equipment like lawnmowers or garden tools or equipment as well as other bike-related accessories.
What Size Shed is Best for Bikes?
A standard adult bike is just under 70 inches or 178 cm long, around 25 inches or 65 cm wide, and 42 inches or 105 cm tall. Of course, a shed with these exact dimensions would make for an extremely tight storage container so, with a bit of leeway on all sizes, the ideal shed size for one bike would be a 6 x 3 ft shed.
That’s for just one adult bike, so if you’re intend on storing more than one ensure that the shed is wide enough to accommodate it.
Do Bike Sheds Need Planning Permission?
No, none of our bike sheds should require planning permission as they should fit within the requirements for “permitted development”.
All our buildings are designed to fit within the size regulations of permitted development. Therefore, as long as your building conforms to the following requirements, it won’t need planning permission:
- It isn’t larger than 50% of your garden.
- Isn’t built past the front wall of your house.
- Isn’t higher at the ridge height than 4m.
- Isn’t higher at the eaves height than 2.5m.
Stick to those rules and no planning permission is required! Please note this applies to the United Kingdom only.
