frequently asked questions
How easy is it to assemble and use a Polanter?
It is easy if you follow these simple step by step instructions...
Step 1 - Assemble your Polanter
Watering System - join the 2 lengths of hose together using the Hose connector (if necessary, warm hose lengths in hot water to make assembly easier) and attach the plain hose to the inside of the End Cap.
Tube Components – Slide first Tube length over watering system hose and on to End Cap, lining up locating lug at back of End Cap with slot in base of Tube. Lock into place using 2 Locking Pips. Push a Hose Clip into hole at the back of Tube length and clip hose in place. For further Tube lengths repeat this procedure until your Polanter is fully assembled. Insert 2 further Locking Pips into top locking holes of the last Tube length to complete assembly. The soaker hose should protrude from the assembled Polanter by approximately 1cm trim off any excess and push in the End Stop.
Step 2 - Hang your Polanter
Kit 1 - Locate Mounting Bracket in back of Tube Length with flat face of Bracket upwards.
Kit 2 and 3 - Locate 1 Mounting Bracket each in top and bottom Tube lengths with the flat face of the Brackets upwards
Kit 4 – Starting from the top, locate 1 Mounting Bracket each in the 2nd and 4th Tube lengths with the flat face of the Brackets upwards. (Note - Bracket not in top Tube length).
Place your assembled Polanter in its desired location, and mark position of top Mounting Bracket. Remove top Mounting Bracket from your Polanter and hold it where you marked its position and mark Bracket holes. Drill and fully secure this Bracket. For kits 2, 3 and 4 hang your Polanter on secured Mounting Bracket and mark position of lower Bracket. Remove this Bracket from your Polanter and mark its hole positions as before. Drill and fully secure this Bracket. Screw covers are provided.
Step 3 - Plant your Polanter
For Kit 1 - Add a small amount of gravel to End Cap for drainage purposes. Using good quality compost, fill Polanter to just above first planting hole lips and insert plants. Fill to just above lip of next hole and insert a further plant. At all times ensure compost is compressed firmly in place. Repeat process until your Polanter is full.
[NB:Slow release feed may be mixed with the compost.]
For Kits 2, 3 and 4 - De-assemble your Polanter leaving lowest Tube length fully attached to End Cap - then
For Kit 2 - Plant as per Kit 1 until full, hang/attach 2nd Tube length and continue planting.
For Kit 3 - Plant as per Kit 1 until full, attach 2nd Tube length and continue planting. When this Tube length is full, hang/attach the final length and continue planting.
For Kit 4 - Plant as per Kit 1 until full, attach 2nd Tube length and continue planting, When this Tube length is full, hang/attach 3rd length and continue planting. When this Tube length is full attach the final length and continue planting. Note:you can add plants to the top of all Polanters
Step 4 - Water your Polanter
Your Polanter is designed to be watered by connecting a hose pipe to the universal male hose connector on the End Cap. Alternatively it can be watered from above. Water as necessary but do not over water.
Step 5 – Empty your Polanter
Allow to dry out and cut off foliage. Remove Polanter from Mounting Brackets and invert. Ease contents etc out.
