Herb Mint (Peppermint) Seeds Herb Mint (Peppermint) Seeds

This herb is the ideal accompaniment to roast lamb and is great with boiled new potatoes and peas. Mint has a piquant aroma and as such is disliked by much of the insect world making it a good companion plant.

This means that there is advantage to planting mint close to cabbages as it will repel the Cabbage White Butterfly. Sow these seeds from late winter to early summer in Seed Compost but do not cover the seed with compost.

Make sure that the compost is moist but not wet and seal in a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 7-16 days at 21-24C.Transplant when large enough to handle into 8cm pots. Later plant out 30cm apart into ordinary soil in part shade.
