    Orchids need repotting when either the plant has clearly outgrown the pot or there is the inevitable breakdown of the old bark. As it degrades it will tend to hold more water and this will have a negative effect on growth.

    If there is any doubt about when to repot then a good rule of thumb would be a period of 12 to 18 months from the last repotting.

    Repotting is best carried out in the early part of the growing season but can also be accomplished at the end of the flowering cycle
