Trachycarpus Fortunei  is one of the most popular and hardiest palms for the UK. The Chusan or Windmill Palm from China tolerates temperatures down to -17°C without problem, looking good in summer or winter. Large green, fan-like leaves grow from a hairy, matted trunk, which sheds old leaves as it ascends. Its yellow flowers bloom freely thoughout the summer. Trachycarpus Fortunei will survive in almost any soil except continuously soggy conditions. For rapid growth and best appearance full sun or partial shade is best with adequate moisture, athough drought tolerant.
