Solanum Glasnevin is a fairly vigorous scrambling climber. The variety Glasnevin is the one to choose, as it flowers more prolifically and is also slightly hardier than plain Solanum crispum. This is troublefree once established. It is semievergreen with clusters of fragrant violetblue flowers in summer and autumn, followed by white berries which are not edible. It is a vigorous plant and can grow up to 7m (20ft) but is easily controlled by pruning in spring.
